Dr. W. E. “Ed” Bosarge is the founder and president of the Bosarge Family Foundation; co-founder and CEO of Quantlab Financial, LLC.; founder of Capital Technologies, Inc.; and founder and chairman of Black Beret Life Sciences, LLC.
Dr. Bosarge is a pioneer in the application of advanced mathematics to the fields of finance, medicine and energy. He has developed innovative, practical solutions to an array of scientific and financial problems, while simultaneously creating several successful, globally influential businesses.
Among his early achievements, Dr. Bosarge helped design computerized navigation and guidance systems for NASA’s Saturn rocket program and helped develop technologies that led to the first human heart–lung transplant. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he pioneered the application of quantitative analysis first to geophysics and oil exploration, then to financial markets. This led to his founding of Quantlab Financial, one of the world’s most successful high–frequency trading firms. More recently, Dr. Bosarge developed and now oversees the world’s first wind– and solar–powered “green” island, Over Yonder Cay, in the Bahamas’ Exumas.
In 2014, Dr. Bosarge founded Black Beret Life Sciences, a global leader in the search for treatments based on regenerative medicine for cancer, diabetes, osteoarthritis and other age–related conditions. Dr. Bosarge is also dedicated to fighting obesity and diabetes, having developed Sola®, a low calorie, zero–carb, and zero–glycemic sugar replacement that tastes, bakes and measures like sugar.
Dr. Bosarge serves on the boards of numerous foundations, including the board of visitors of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. His support for adult stem cell research and leadership in the field of renewable energy led to his appointment by the Vatican as scientific advisor to the president of the Pontifical Council for Culture Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi and, most recently, as the Pontifical Council Admonitor and Senior Advisor for Regenerative Medicine.
