Dr. Jason Hurd is an orthopedic surgeon at Sanford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 2017, he served as principal investigator of Sanford Health’s adipose stem cell clinical trial for partial and small rotator cuff tears, the first U.S. Food and Drug Administration–approved clinical trial of its kind in the U.S. Dr. Hurd’s research focuses on analgesic effectiveness of liposomal bupivacaine for total shoulder arthroplasty, endoscopic decompression compared to open in situ release for the treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) and ultrasound-guided injection of adipose mesenchymal cells for partial thickness rotator cuff tears.

Dr. Hurd completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. He is fellowship–trained in shoulder and elbow surgery from the New York Hospital for Joint Disease and is board–certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
